4 Stars Great for bedrooms
I bought this TV when my mother said she would get me a PS3 for Christmas. Maybe I’m just over excited about it because it’s a nice upgrade from a 15 inch Samsung, but I love this TV! This picture quality is great (even without HDTV) and I can’t wait to play some HD games on it. I only have a couple minor complaints:
The sound quality isn’t great. BUT, there is a headphone jack that I plugged my stereo speakers into, so I use those speakers when watching TV which is great. The other thing that is kind of annoying (not enough to return the TV, mind you) is the amount of time it takes to change channels. Channel surfing with the up-down buttons is fine, but when I enter channel numbers in it usually takes at least 6 or 7 seconds. But like I said, these are minor flaws that really don’t bother me much.
Overall this is a great TV, especially for bedrooms (gaming).
3 Stars Vizio frame light is annoying at night
I purchased this TV for our bedroom. While the picture quality and sound are both great one thing I was not aware of and find annoying is the light on the frame, with the TV in the bedroom, the light is on all the time. It is annoying at night and there is no way to turn it off. It’s like having a night light on all the time. We do cover it with a book but I must say…why is it there? It is drawing electricity unnecessarity. With all the studies of green products, you would think Vizio would make this an optional light. It was one thing I never even thought about while shopping for a TV.

Beautifully styled and packed with features such as full 1080p resolution for razor sharp images and a 50,000:1 contrast ratio for deep blacks and bright, vibrant colors. SRS TruSurround HD completes the package bringing the action to life.

5 Stars Fantastic!!!!
We bought this tv for our daughter to take away to college. She loves it!! It looks great, has excellent picture quality, and was a great value. Definitely would recommend this product.
5 Stars This is a good T.V.
I love this T.V. The only slight negative is that the sound isn’t the best, but I don’t have speakers which I guess I should have.
5 Stars Great TV for any price in my opinion
I should say right up front that this is my first HDTV, so you can decide for yourself whether to lend any credence to this review. But my wife and I love this TV and are very happy with our purchase. The picture is vibrant and there is no glare as there was with our old school TV. The remote is simple and very easy to use. The TV is very light and easy to maneuver. The sound is pretty good. In fact, it threw us off at first because we were both hearing sounds that came from the other side of the room. We also got the set for $50 less than other retailers PLUS there was no tax and no shipping, so we easily saved over $100. We paid $415 for a 32″. Lastly, the TV came in about 2 months sooner than expected. We are VERY pleased with every aspect of this purchase.
4 Stars Very good TV for a PC monitor
I found a good deal on this beast around Black Friday. It does a fine job as a computer display with a few idiosyncrasies. Ideally, I would think you’d want to use the hdmi input as it is a digital input, however Vizio in their vast wisdom has denied us the ability to adjust all the settings necessary to stretch the desktop to fit the screen V-Size is disabled. You can adjust H and V position and H-Size and almost make it fit the screen, just a small black band at the top (or bottom, I suppose) of the screen. I felt that was a trivial concern since the overall size of the display was so immense. But a couple of days later I was puttering around in some spare parts and came across a dvi to rgb converter plug that had come with some video card or other (previously I was using a dvi to hdmi cable). Long story short I hooked up the connector to a cable I had laying around and to the TV and lo and behold a full-screen image and crisper than that of the hdmi. Now in my world rgb is an analog input and dvi/hdmi is a digital output/input, so I can’t imagine how the got a 1080p signal over rgb looking so good, and I know that they can’t send hdcp over that rgb but I’ll take a nice sharp picture anytime. I still have the monitor hooked up on another input for hdmi so I can play blu-ray at full rez, or so I hope… I haven’t tried it yet. But overall a fine TV with plenty of inputs, despite its lack of dvi or display port. And the panel looks good, I’m moving from a 24″ benq that did hi-def and this looks as good color wise. Game playing is just fine. I’ve never used a screen refresh rate higher than 60hz anyway so unless someone is doing something seriously wrong or you have some kind of vision defect I’d say this is a great value. BTW, I’m sitting maybe two feet away from it, so I couldn’t miss any artifacts/dead pixels/ghosting.

4 Stars OK, but lack convenience features of other TVs
I purchased this TV from Target on sale. Really good price but I had to call around to find in stock. It was moving like hotcakes off the shelves when I was there.
For the price, this is a good deal. Picture quality and sound is a step below my 32inch Sony, but certainly good for the price. However, and this is a big however, it lacks some convenience features which I really like, and thus will have to return this TV.
Specifically, the WIDE mode button has been removed from the remote control, despite what it says in the manual. I had a very nice talk with tech support, who were great, but said that the manual referred to the older model. So, this means that if you flip from one channel to another, you need to navigate through the menus to change the widescreen mode. OK, not a deal breaker, but very annoying. I use this feature all the time on my Sony.
What is a deal breaker is the lack of choices for wide screen modes. There are only 3 (normal, panoramic, and wide). These do not cover the various options you might need. Specifically, it lacks what Sony calls “ZOOM”. “ZOOM” would allow you to zoom in while retaining the aspect ratio. This is important if you are watching non HD sources where the 4×3 picture is letter-boxed. You cannot zoom in to fill the whole screen. For me, this is a big problem.
I’ve given four stars deducting 1 for these problems. If these are not concerns for you, this is a great TV at a great price. If they are, do not buy this TV.
4 Stars Very nice for the price!
Having seen the VIZIO brand at out local Target store, I initially shunned it thinking that a higher-end and better-known brand such as Samsung, Sony or Toshiba was probably better. Recently I noticed an article in Consumer Reports that top-rated a VIZIO LCD TV so I took another look and I’m glad I did.
I bought a smaller — 26-inch — VIZIO just to watch TV which for us generally means breaking news and political coverage. For TV series and movies, we have a larger Sharp AQUOS LED LCD TV with an LG BD390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player and a 650-watt five speaker sound system; this system can’t be beat at any affordable price. The VIZIO simply can’t compete with the Sharp setup but, of course, it only cost a fraction of what we spent for our “serious” rig.
Setup was simple though, inexplicably, no assembly instructions for the TV itself were included; I assume there was a sheet of instructions which did not make it into the box. Assembly instructions are not included in the VIZIO manual or the Quickstart Guide but it was pretty easy to figure out how to attach the stand and supporting collar to the LCD TV itself.
There are plenty of input connection choices; our Apple TV unit feeds HMDI 1 and looks great on-screen.
The screen image is very good — not up to the Sharp LED TV, naturally — and the sound output is average for built-in speakers.
We got a great “Cyber Monday” price on the VA26L at Target but had to go to two stores before we could find one in stock; this popular model was sold out online.
We are happy with our VA26L and would recommend it to others looking for good performance, quality and value at a reasonable price.

5 Stars Great HDTV, Great Price at Costco
My Wife and I bought this TV at Costco for 499.99. Best Price for a 1080p HDTV! Awesome HD picture. Will be updating our DVD player to a blu-ray/DVD upscaling player shortly. I agree with the one post that the analog display is good, not great, but we did not buy an HDTV to use with 20th century analog technology! Highly recomend this HDTV!
3 Stars Good HDTV
This TV did well with ATSC broadcast and HDMI inputs. The analog inputs, S-video and composite video, were less than satisfactory. If you intend to view analog sources a lot, this may not be the best choice for you.
5 Stars Wow
I should start this off by saying my not previously owning an HDTV may be skewing my opinion, but this is a fantastic television. The picture is clear and sharp, the sound is fantastic, it is basically beyond everything I was hoping it would be and at a really good price. I cannot imagine how I could be more satisfied with this set.

5 Stars vizio 32″ white tv
i just love my tv. i went from a 15″ polaroid tv to this 32″. i don’t even need my glasses anymore to watch tv. the picture and sound are excellent. i’d recommend this tv to anyone needing a 32″. i chose white because i have this in my bedroom and it blends in well with my pink , white and green decor. it’s flat panel so it fits on top of my bookcase. i installed it and put it on the shelf by myself. i’m so happy with my purchase and i received it so fast!!
5 Stars Advertised Wrong?
I don’t have this tv but was thinking of getting it for my ps3. Is it advertised wrong? In the description it says 720p but according to the specs it says the resolution is 1920×1080 which would make it 1080p. which is it?

4 Stars VIZIO vt420m great bang for your buck
I tried really hard to find a comparable difference between SONY , SAMSUNG, VIZIO on tvs under 800 dollars. I couldn’t find one. I stared at all three televisions for 45 minutes straight…not a considerable difference. For the money, you can’t go wrong. its the right balance of size, picture quality and price. I hooked up my ps3 to compare the quality between this tv and a 46″ xbr from SONY. I was shocked to see that this tv had by far produced a better picture (although the sony is 2 years old). Audio is poor and does fluctuate from time to time. I’ve had it for a month and cant say that I’ve seen any green lines or issues. If you wan’t a television under 1000 dollars, i would highly recommend you take a look at this vizio. I don’t think vizio can hold a candle when it gets to the higher priced tv’s, but when it competes in this price range…it excels
5 Stars Great value! Great picture!
I’ve had this TV for a 1 1/2 months now and it has been amazing. The picture quality is outstanding – the only way you are going to get better picture is to buy an LED TV, but those have their downside as well.
The built-in speakers are very weak and the audio level sometimes fluctuates a bit. That being said, if you hook it up to an external sound system you won’t need the built-in speakers.
This TV works extremely well with my cable box, DVD player and even my Nintendo Wii.
Highly recommended.
5 Stars Excellent TV
Great picture. No dead pixels. I do think 120hz makes a difference in motion.
Now that I’ve got the vt420m, I wish I’d bought the VT470m instead.

5 Stars Vizio 1080p HDTV
I purchased this Tv From [...] for [...] and it was a great buy. The picture is out of this world, with my Directv HD package and my 7 speaker surround system it takes TV watching to a totally different level. I was not a true believer in HDTV , I am a changed man now , if you are purchasing a 1080p HDTV please upgrade your cable or other services to high def programming to really enjoy all your HDTV has to offer. The Speakers on the TV are ok , but I prefer to hook up a true surround system. I forgot to mention that the TV looks great too.
4 Stars An Excellent Value with True 1080p Resolution
VIZIO 32″ 1080p LCD HDTV – Java (VOJ320F1A)
Purchased this flat screen this week. Pricing is very good & competitive all over. Especially Target & Sears. I purchased mine at a standard sale before Christmas at Sears for $399.00, which is an excellent value. This model’s screen measures 31.5″, and with proper HDMI connections, is a TRUE 1080p set. The vast majority of sets at this price display at 720p or lower, and the ONLY way they can advertise they display true HD is with a pure HD signal coming in. Those sets still only display NEAR 1080p, with a direct signal of such. This is basically impossible with cable & satellite. A good Blue Ray DVD player can achieve this. This set is a cinch to setup, the TV does it on it’s own. Picture quality with cable is okay, but not outstanding. Connecting with HDMI cables improves the signal a great deal. This Vizio set does not have enough choices during setup to adjust the picture to my personal liking. There is no choice for “Sharpness” or Contour Shaping and the like. If you’re getting a poor cable signal, you’re pretty much stuck with a fuzzy picture. The sound has several different genre’s (Rock, Jazz, Classical, etc) to choose to hear through the front firing speakers, but these selections don’t make a major difference regardless of what you choose. There are no choices to adjust Bass & Treble. Sound is bright, clear & capable of being set loud, but a bit brash & sharp sounding with minimal bass. All considered, a good choice for a bedroom set.

5 Stars Awesome t.v.
I havent really made a review before but i thought i would being i could not find any reviews on this t.v. before buying it. This is my fourth lcd t.v. Other brands i own are philips 42 inch 1080p, mavnavox 32 inch 1080i and a samsung 24 inch 1080p. I bought this t.v. to replace my 24 inch samsung i was using as a gaming/computer work bench monitor and i have to say i am not sorry for making the purchase. It exceeds the picture quality of my samsung 1080p. I upgraded my video card in my pc to include an hdmi output in which transfers both video and sound to the t.v. so i therefore eliminate the audio cable if i were for use the rgb pc input. The t.v. has a rca audio out for easy connection to a stereo system or simply buy a rca to 3.5 heaphone jack to connect to pc speakers in which is my setup. The graphics through my xbox 360 is awesome in game mode. Video from my pc is pretty good i am still messing with the settings which may be my video card or the t.v.’s setting. Vizio has definitely won me over with this one.
5 Stars Superb TV for a great price
We recently purchased this television from a different store but were impressed as soon as we turned it on. We had received a 24″ Vizio LCD for Christmas, but its quality was severely lacking – the picture went dark very quickly if you viewed the screen off-center, even about 10-20 degrees off axis – to the point that having the television on top of a chest of drawers caused it to be too high to watch TV with any decent quality. We returned that one and bought the SV320XVT and were blown away by comparison.
Pros: The 1080p quality at 120Hz makes digital television channels look great. Device buttons are easily accessible for changing inputs instead of pressing a single “Source” or “Input” button multiple times to get to the input you want. There are three HDMI inputs, which is great for a cable/satellite tuner, Blu-Ray player, and another source (we use it for the Canon 7D’s video output). The viewing angle is excellent, especially for an LCD. We were able to get a consistent view at about 120-140 degrees off-axis. Different video modes are available for different types of viewing (Basketball, Golf, Baseball, Movies, Normal, etc.). Sound quality out-of-the-box is excellent, though a surround sound system could be hooked up with either RCA, HDMI, or TOSlink.
Cons: 120Hz can still make some live-acted shows and movies look computer animated, but that happens with any TV that has this feature. This TV does not have a 10/100 network port, which I’ve only seen on a few televisions at this point, but it would be nice to have it for web streaming. There is an RGB input, however, so we can still hook it up to a computer. I’d also like if the TV had an alarm clock on it, but that’s a very minor issue. Also, having a jog dial on the bottom right side of the panel makes for an awkward way of controlling power, volume, and channel control; I’d rather have actual buttons for each. It took trial and error to figure out that adjusting the volume from the side did not require me to push the button inward to confirm the change, as that just turned off the TV.
VIZIO VX240M 24 Inch Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV

Don’t let the compact size of this HDTV full you, it packs a powerful punch! This 24″ ECO HDTV consumes less energy than traditional HDTVs, exceeding the current Energy Star guidelines by 45%. The full high definition 1080p resolution gives razor sharp images and the SRS TruSurround HD provides enveloping surround sound.

3 Stars It’s great but….
This TV is easy to use, has a good array of inputs on the back, and even has a headphone input. My biggest complaint is the light bleed especially the edges. Coupled with Blu-Ray the picture is amazing but when my eyes aren’t attracted to the edges I’m looking at that spot that supposed to be dark but is kind of shiny-ish. If you know what I am talking about and really don’t care then I highly suggest this TV and brand in general for the ease of use and low prices but if you are easily distracted like me you should probably look for something else…
5 Stars Excellent all around.
Delivery was as promised, and the television is wonderful. The picture is great, and my only regret is that I did not purchase a larger screen.

5 Stars Surprisingly easy to use, good picture, better sound than expected
Very easy set up. The TV is about as plug-and-play as you can find.
The overall value of this tv is great for a medium sized HD TV. The picture is great. No complaints there.
The speakers on the tv are what really surprised me. Very good quality. I tested them with the Quantum of Solace preview and it was great.
The remote is simple and has just what you need on it. Navigating the on screen tv menu is pretty easy.
We are using the stand that came with the tv and it was easy to set up. All you need is a screwdriver to instal 4 screws that connect the stand to the tv.
The only thing I don’t like about the tv is a visual thing. On the front at the bottom where the speakers are. Instead of being flush and straight across, the speakers sort of invert on themselves and go in toward the back of the screen. It’s not a big deal but I wish it was just clean and straight across.
The packaging was secure and the tv arrived undamaged, which is always good.
Over all I am very happy with the tv and consider it a good deal.
4 Stars Very good low-cost set, but lacks a few things
I’ve had this set almost a week. It has a very good picture – colors are bright. The sound with the built-in speakers is very good – one of the best I’ve heard. The remote control has nice rockers for the channel and volume. These feel like high-quality switches for the most-frequently used buttons and will last a long time – very impressive. It has plenty of inputs.
Its cost is low and it lacks a few things. It lacks analog sound outputs (it has neither phono jack outputs or a headphone jack), although it does have digital optical sound output. The remote control lacks a set of “favorites”.
The biggest drawback is that there is no easy way to change from normal aspect to wide aspect. All other sets I’ve seen have a button on the R/C to easily switch between several choices. This set has only two choices (normal/wide) and you have to go through the menu to access it – very difficult. This means that if you use the normal setting to have the correct aspect ratio, some programs have black bars at the top and bottom and there is no easy way to make it fit your screen efficiently.
Inputs:
2 HDMI, the second one includes audio phono jack inputs
1 RGB PC, including 1/8″ jack for the sound
2 Component
1 composite/S-video (including audio)
1 coax
Output:
1 digital optical output (SPDIF).

3 Stars great features but wrong direction for vizio
i have this tv. i just recieved it about 2 days ago. decent picture. although through dish network hd the vizio 47″ sv470m handles motion blur much better. this 120 hz tv just doesn’t handle fast moving objects very well. seeing that this brand is really pushing that feature on this model makes me wonder which way vizio is heading. also, on 720 you if you watch in normal screen mode, your 47 inch tv is has about 6″ black borders all around tv. you can zoom to full screen mode and this fixes it. the hdmi interface seems to be glitchy at times. blu ray also is not as good. i tested on transformers 2. the scene where optimus fights all the deceptacons . the fast paced action on thr transformers was okay but the background appeared blurry at times. once again, on the vizio 47″ sv470m (lower cheaper model)it was much better. this tv has poor black levels but the overal picture is decent. i have owned quite a few lcd and plasma tv’s and this tv is a good buy only if you pay under 1000$. this tv is suppose to be better than the sv470m. they are both 120hz tv. but the lack of cinema mode one the vt470m stinks. overall experience with the lower model was much better.
5 Stars Excellent TV!
This television is super easy to set up, lightweight but stable, with awesome picture quality!

3 Stars So-So TV may be OK with certain material if price is right
I bought the Vizio at a Amazon competitor for far less $ then it sells on Amazon.
With the Vizio – I wanted an inexpensive TV to be primarily used for standard definition Fios broadcasts and standard DVDs up-scaled to 1080P from a quality Philips DVD player. – The DVDS would primarily be older films and 50, 60 and 70s TV shows. I spent a long time adjusting the video on this Vizio TV with a multitude of controls and managed to get a fairly reasonable picture but only If spent a long time getting controls just right. The 60s TV show Laredo did not look to bad on this TV – as long as I spent the time on the video controls. But I noticed Fios broadcasts such as FOX news were muddy and printed words and fine lines jittered no matter what I did. There was also an unnatural glimmer. In the end Fios and old 60s TV shows did not look much better than a high grade VCR tape. My old 32″ Samsung CRT TV had a much better picture quality with the older films.
On a postive note – Brand new DVD material such as 6:9 DVDs of recently produced films looked very good on this TV.
The Vizio TV cannot be adjusted to to display a 4:3 ratio when using the HDMI cable. These means all old movies and TV shows will be unnaturally stretched out to fill the screen with the HDMI cable. This handicap is stated in the user man$ual.
The sound quality of this TV is below average as well. Very bland.
In the final analysis – The Vizio TV might get good grades for its price – which can be inexpensive – if you shop around. And might be more then satisfactory as long as you are only interested in high definition broadcasts and recently produced movies.
For me – I sadly returned the Vizio set and purchased the LG 37LH40
With the LG – Standard Fios and standard DVDs have very good video quality. Laredo looks clear and almost as good as a recent film. The set can be adjusted to display a 4:3 ratio with the HDMI cable too. The glimmering and jittering words on Fios broadcasts are gone. Words and fine lines are stable and clear.
The only criticism so far with the LG is that very dark night scenes can be a bit too dark.
Good luck on your choice.
5 Stars Great Deal!
First off, I have to say I am skeptical about “off brands”. My husband knows someone who works for Microsoftttt and they choose Vizio products (laptop, LCD TV, and desktop computer). That was enough for me to take the plunge for a so-called “off brand”.
I am not the kind of person that needs perfection in my electronics. But, we paid 628.00 for this TV at Sam’s and could not be happier with the quality of the TV. 3 different people at Sam’s came up to us before we left and said they bought a Vizio like this one and LOVE it! We were sold. You will see more from Vizio and I am sure they will get more expensive eventually. Great products.

5 Stars Great deal bought it refurbished!!
Well let me start off by telling you that I have spent over a month doing research and going to retail stores comparing different models and brands before deciding on this one. I will admit I am on a budget so that did play a role in my decision.
After much debate I decided to go with the refurbished model but was nervous that it would have some problem but WOW it looks and works perfect and saved a bunch!!
I am using it in my bedroom at a distance of about 13 feet away and only using standard definition hooked up and I will tell you the picture is great!! My dad came over and swore that it was hooked up to hi def. My tv in the living room is hooked up to hi def and looks about the same. Yes I did play with all the settings to get the picture to look that good.
The sound on this tv puts my 62 inch Samsung to shame. The sound is fantastic on this and has many adjustments.
There is plenty of inputs and outputs on this one. 4 HDMI wow!!
Overall I really love this set and wish I had bought Vizio for my living room instead of Samsung but of well.
Yes I would for sure recommend this to anyone. The picture and quality is up there with the best of them and you will save big too!!
4 Stars All good so far
Bought this at a membership store 3 weeks ago. First we got a free HD cable box upgrade with component video output, hooked that up. Picture and sound were great. Cable box failed, got new cable box with with HDMI, and picture is even better! Basketball, baseball, hockey all look real sharp, haven’t noticed motion blur to be a problem. (I found that some sports come to me at 720p, others in 1080i, both look great.) Occassionally there is some pixelization, and unfortunately I have no way of knowing if it’s the TV or the cable box. Hooked up some rabbit ears briefly, just as an experiment, and over the air HD looked very nice. Sideways viewing angle is fine. The TV is on a stand that is about 30 inches high. The picture looks great from normal sitting viewing position. But if you’re standing, near the screen, you can see some decreased contrast due to the vertical angle. Wall mounting a foot or so higher would be better. Standing a few feet away, as you might do for some video games (Wii Fit, DDR), there is a little contrast loss, but it’s barely noticeable–no complaints from the teenagers. Also tried hooking up my computer via RGB and that looks just fine. Played a 1080p video from the computer, quality is excellent. Had to call customer support to get PIP working; for some reason the default was PIP disabled by parental consent setting. Stereo sound is clear with excellent separation.
UPDATE: After about one month, the picture started showing red and green noise. I called Vizio, and they made an appointment for a service visit. They replaced a board, and the problem seems to be fixed. The service guys said this was a common problem.

5 Stars Cosco rocks.
Still wowed at how good the new LCDs are. A year or two with an Olevia 37″ I thought was great compared at home with this new Vizio 37″ 1080P downstairs: Damn. All I had to do was put everything in the middle setting, sharpness on 5 (out of 7), turn off all the processing and features, and put the backlight at about 10-20 to get the whites bright enough, or higher for brighter rooms. And the in-content blacks are still inky. It renders the entire contrast and color range faithfully except for a little laziness in the middle of the dynamic range curve that can seem “smoky” on some older video mastering jobs (you truly need CRT, Plasma, or exotics to get it perfect). And it doesn’t have to be excruciatingly bright like the Olevias. That 237t-t12 even at it’s lowest of three crude backlight settings still is kind of blinding in bright scenes, and I have the Brightness down to the point at which the blacks do not get blacker but I can still barely see the foot of the contrast curve.
That continuously adjustable backlight on the new screens is essential. Combined with better real native (not the dynamic software) contrast, and I am floored. And it was $200 cheaper than the Olevia originally! The only thing I’m troubled with is the promotion of this dynamic contrast mode so much in an effort to compete with Plasmas. I think the contrast really is getting good enough on these 37″ LCDs that it doesn’t need to hide it. Again, there’s still obviously room for improvement as Dark City and the Fifth Element still aren’t quite filmy yet in their gorgeous contrast rendition on any LCD I’ve seen yet, but it’s getting there. At a higher cost, the newest multi-LED-based screens allow even more control over the backlight, but the only time I see any non-uniformity is on a completely blank, black screen with a very slight flashlight effect in the upper right. Much less than the 237t-t12. Now I must start worrying about upgrading the computer to have the horsepower to get one of these for my upstairs system! X-Plane or Blackshark in 1080P just isn’t going to happen on a P4.
4 Stars No picture quality issues, but slow at startup
After a good experience with my V VIZIO VO37LF – 37″ LCD TV – widescreen – 1080p (FullHD) – HDTV I had no hesitation in buying another Vizio TV from Costco last week, when replacing an old second TV. I chose this model because it was being sold at a low price under an “instant rebate” offer.
After a week or so of use, I don’t like it quite as much as I like my other Vizio 37″ HDTV, but I’m happy with the purchase and believe I got my money’s worth.
Unlike other reviewers who have posted here, I have had no problems with color or picture quality. I don’t like the way the menu/setup options are displayed onscreen, which is really a minor gripe. My main issue with this TV is that it takes longer to startup when first turned on, or when I change from one input to another (TV, HDMI1, HDMI3, etc.). Although it’s a matter of seconds, it is a bit longer than my other Vizio TV takes. Also, the remote control seems flimsier and cheaper than the remote for my other Vizio.
On the other hand, this TV cost at least two hundred bucks less, so I consider it a good value for the money. It’s worked well with my LG BD 370 Network Blu-ray Disc Player both with DVDs and Netflix movies. I just got the LG player and haven’t tried any blu-ray discs yet.
I went to the Vizio website and looked up each of these TV models under the “support” tab, and printed out the tech specs for each one. They are overall quite similar, but not identical in all respects. I’m sure the discriminating videophiles who are shopping for HDTVs will be able to decide, based on the specs, if this is a TV they want to try. For this non-expert consumer, it’s been a good purchase.
EDITED on January 2, 2010 to add: This morning I clocked the start-up lag for this TV. Time elapsed between power coming on and a picture appearing was 25 seconds. But this is the only negative in its performance and I’ve decided I can live with it.

As “America’s HDTV Company”, VIZIO strives to make your HD experience the best it can possibly be, and always at a great value. From high quality HDTVs and monitors to amazing sound products and accessories such as cables, mounts, and remotes, we continue to create innovative products that raise the bar. We believe that HD should be enjoyed by all … you could say it’s our guiding mantra.

5 Stars Great things come in small packages!
I’ve had this TV for about 6 months and I absolutely love it. Its perfect for a bedrooms, dorm rooms but a little large for a kitchen. I have had no problems with it. It has great sound and picture quality for analog and HD channels. I do suggest investing in a blu-ray player because dvds will be letter boxed with bars around the picture when played on a DVD player but are upconverted and look great on a blu-ray player. personally i got this Sylvania NB501SL9 1080p Blu-Ray Disc Playerwhich is inexpensive and works beautifully.
I also sometimes hook it up to my PC using a VGA cable to play movies from my hard drive or dvds which also looks great and can then be played in widescreen however i need external speakers for good sound to play from my computer.
Overall this is a lovely addition to my electronics collection.
5 Stars Love this TV!
I originally purchased a Sceptre 23″ but it kept locking up on screen and wouldn’t turn off. I had to unplug it at the wall. Tech support was no help. So I returned it and bought this.
I never thought there would be so much difference in picture quality but because I had viewed them so close together, the difference was very noticeable.
The VIZIO has a very clear, colorful picture. In high def it is amazing.
We have two of them this size and they have both worked great for over 1 year. We also have a VIZIO 46″ as our main tv. It is also terrific and has done well for over two years.
It comes with all the ports that I need for adding components and HDMI.
I don’t think you can go wrong with VIZIO. They are quality at a great price.

4 Stars Excellent… So Far…
Purchased the Vizio VX200E 20″ HDTV last night at Sam’s Club for $170. I had been considering a Samsung LN19B360 19″ HDTV to replace our older non-HD Samsung 19″ LCD on the kitchen counter. The Vizio VX200E caught my eye with a great picture, larger yet still compact size plus a lower price compared to the Samsung… so off I went with the Vizio. I’m connected directly to the cable… no cable box, no outside antenna. When given the “Turn On” command, the set does take a few seconds to “warm up” before switching on, but that’s not a show-stopper. After going through the setup procedure, we were pleased to be watching a top-notch picture considering the price. Broadcast channels in HD over the cable look great on this set. Sound quality is satisfactory though a little hot on treble… haven’t tried to adjust sound or the picture/ color… default settings are quite good.
I wonder if TV remote design engineers use the products they design?? Seems that none of the TV remotes are flat on the bottom so one can push remote buttons with the unit sitting on the table/ counter without ending up with the remote flipping over.
Overall I am very pleased with this product… after less than 24 hrs of use… it’s performance over time will determine my long-term view of quality & reliability.
3 Stars disappointing
This set was for use in a kitchen. Based on the low price, lots of available connectivity, decent sound quality, and it is a good size for the application we went with the Vizio.
The TV falls short in the most important area which is picture quality.
It is not sharp, it is very pixelated at all times, and suffers from major motion blur. Images just don’t look right on this set. Colors were vivid though.
Used an OTA HD signal from a roof top antenna that doesn’t display like this on other sets.
I suggest spending a few bucks more and go with a Samsung or LG in this size range. Their picture quality is excellent.

5 Stars You get what you pay for doesn’t apply to this tv
I purchased this television set from Costco yesterday for $850 to replace my Samsung TX-P3075WH in my bedroom. I already have a Sony Bravia 42″ KDL-42V4100 in the living room that I paid $1250 for last summer.
I was originally looking to get the new Samsung 40″ LED TV instead but I decided to purchase a lower end television for the bedroom. So I settled on this VIZIO since it’s over half the price cheaper and have similar features.
I gotta say that freah out of the box I’m very impress by the features of this television. It has close to the same functionality as a higher end Samsung or Sony television. One of the main reason I purchased this TV was for the 120hz frame rate and Smooth Motion feature, which I’ve heard a lot of positive comments on. It took me about 5 minutes to get this thing hooked up to my PS3 and Comcast receiver. I watched my blu-ray version of Tranformer on it, and I gotta say it was awesome.
I still have to calibrate the set for my bedroom room but as it stands right now, the picture quality of this set is far superior than my Samsung (granted that it’s my oldest set) and just a notch below the Sony. The Smooth Motion technology is great and does what it’s supposed to do. The major complaint I have about the technology though is that it makes alot of movies look “fake”. I watched Terminator 2 (blu-ray version) and the technology completely destroyed the visual experience. The terminators looked like little toys gliding across the screen. (Transformers didn’t have this problem) And some things were so clear that I can immediately tell they were props. Luckily though, you have the option of turning Smooth Motion off.
So here are some pros and cons that I noticed:
PROS:
Great value: You’re getting alot more than you paid for compared to the major brands.
120Hz Smooth Motion (it’s also a con) : Makes things “glide” across the screen. Sports show looks “amazingly” realistic. It’s like you’re standing right next to the player at the stadium.
Crisp Clear picture and details.
Wireless Speaker Option: I haven’t used this yet, but just the thought of connecting some wireless speakers for 5.1 Digital Dolby surround is aweome.
Decent amount of menu options.
Picture-In-Picture and menu guide: This may seem to be a minor feature. But some televisions that are around this price don’t have PIP or a menu guide!
Cons:
Low contrast ratio. Typical contrast ratio of 1300:1 and dyanmic of 6500:1. Dynamic ratios are generally useless. The standard contract ratio is more important and this set’s has quite a low contrast ratio. That said though, my actual experience with this was actually quite good. I was suprised that it the manual said it was only 1300:1.
No media slot. Not that important to me, but looking forward, it would be pretty sweet if there was a USB port or media slot for me to just plug in my camera’s memory stick to view pictures.
120Hz Smooth Motion makes older movies looks very fake and cheezy. I loved Terminator 2 and the movie looked like crap with this feature turned on. I usually leave this feature ON, and set at low. Depending on the movie, I’ll temporarily turn the feature off. I would be entirely against turning this feature off permanantly. (If you’re not going to use it, save some money and go buy a different set that doesn’t have this feature right?)
Runs hot: This television generates more heat than both my Samsung and Sony television. (Not a big deal to me though)
Power consumption: This television takes up 300 watts of power, compared to my Samsung set that uses 170 watts (almost half) and the Sony that uses 240 watts. (Power consumption is one of the main factors that separates the name brand manufacturers from the “lower-end” players. In my opition Sony, Samsung, and Toshiba products always destroy the competitors in this area)
Overall, this is a great TV. I would highly recommend it. If price is a factor in your decision, I can say you’re not giving up much in terms of quality or features if you choose this set.
5 Stars Best bang for your buck!
As a Sony user for the last two decades I was hesitant to switch brands after my Trinitron blew out last year. I’m not any more. In fact, I have both the 42″ XVT series and 37″ 1080i/720p LCDs and I can’t complain! Basically this is a very inexpensive 120Hz LCD (Costco Coupon $799.99); highly accurate color; plenty of picture adjustments including extensive dejudder controls; comprehensive connectivity including four HDMI inputs and a PC input. This TV simply ROCKS!
4 Stars Great Mid-Level Brand TV, Able To Hold Its Own Against the Big Boys (For the Price)!
I finally turned my tax refund in a month ago and received the biggest return I’ve ever gotten. In planning my “Harry-Carry” for the money, I decided a new HDTV was the way to go. After doing much research and starting a discussion here on Amazon for different opinions, I finally made my choice for the Vizio SV420XVT1A. It was the size I wanted, 1080p and 120Hz. I found a really good deal for it on Dell’s Storefront website with a discount and free S&H; just had to pay tax (sorry Amazon, they had the best deal). I would never buy a TV online before I saw the picture of it in person, but luckily my local Sears has it on display, so I went and checked it out. They had other 120Hz TV’s on display next to the Vizio which were the high-end brands like Samsung and Sony. Although their pictures were a bit better, the Vizio still had one that could compete for the price. I ordered it and received a little over a week later via freight service called CEVA. (Anyone ever hear of them?).
It was packaged pretty well in the box, just like you’d expect it to be. The easiest way to remove the TV from the box was to cut out one of the thin sides of the box and pull it out sideways. This TV replaced an 8 year old Konka tube TV (27″) and was surprisingly lighter (but not by much…approx. = 56lbs.). Anyway, after setting it up in the same spot as the old TV, I connected cable, a Sony upconverting DVD player via HDMI 1, and my computer (desktop) via HDMI 2. As soon as I turned it on, the setup process came up to scan for cable channels and some other basic picture setup. (I customized all the settings for picture which I will list below) The menu itself isn’t very…graphic. For some items of the menu you have to click once or twice to access further settings, but is no big deal. Actually it’s kind of good this way since you can navigate the menu, change picture settings and the menu doesn’t take up much screen space so you can see what the changes look like without closing out of it.
I found it a bit surprising that I WAS able to get 5 HD channels (the major networks) without a digital box. (We have a digital/HD package with our cable co., but I didn’t think you could get any of the HD’s without a box!) When watching channels in regular SD quality, some look better than others. It depends on what channel and what they are showing. Older TV shows and movies do not look that good (fuzzy, jittery) but are still watchable. The newer the program, the better it can look. I’ve watched reruns of MASH on the Hallmark channel that look nowhere near as good as they did on the old TV, but watching newer shows or movies on channels such as FX, Comedy Central & Sci-Fi look much better. It’s understandable of course that SD programming will not look as good on a HDTV as a SDTV, but you’re investing in the future. If you’re fortunate enough to be able to receive (and afford) all HD programming, then you’re already living in it! But eventually, everything will switch over to HD, and SD will go the way of 4:3 TV’s! Anyway, the few HD channels I receive look GREAT. Not as good as a blu-ray, but better than an upconverted DVD. (Those 2 things I will talk about below) The picture is quite clear and colorful. I just finished watching Heroes on NBC-HD and the motion in the picture is great, improved by the 120Hz refresh rate. Speaking of the 120Hz, again, it only looks good for certain SD content. Other programming will stutter and jutter (just at some moments) with it on. This is a MINOR annoyance, so I just keep it on, disregarding the picture when it occurs. (It’s too much trouble to keep turning it on and off when switching between cable and everything else, so I just leave it on all the time)
Now to the upconverted DVD viewing. So far, I have watched a few TV shows and movies and they too look quite good. Some of these TV shows are copied and shrunk to a DVD 5 disc, so the quality is not as good as the source, but it still looks better than any SD show. The first true (not copied or shrunk) DVD movie I watched was Event Horizon and the picture as well as the sound was like I’d never seen before! The picture showed details I’d never seen when watching the movie before and the sounds (for TV speakers) was pretty great too. (The sound isn’t comparable to a surround sound system or anything, but it’s better than my old TV!) This is also when you really start to see the 120Hz coming into play. The motion was much smoother and fluid, for example; when the movie begins and you see all the objects floating around on the ship in the zero-g environment.
Next, blu-ray. I initially tried to watch a blu-ray from my computer connection, but found this to be too problematic. First off, the display was only cloned and the monitor I use is 4:3, so the picture on the TV wasn’t the best. (The black bars on the top and bottom were WAY TOO THICK!) Also, the picture did the old stutter and jutter, just like it did for some of the old movies I previewed on SD cable. On the plus side, the actual picture was pretty good though. Next I tried using my laptop, connecting it to one of the HDMI connections that reside on the right side of the TV. Once connected, the display switches from the laptop screen to the secondary display (TV). The picture was allowed to be adjusted to the full 1920×1080 which looked better than my desktop did. I popped in the Matrix and started watching. The picture was breathtaking! It had been awhile since I watched the Matrix and I saw and heard things that I never had before with stunning fluid motion. Blu-ray is definitely the way to go! The only bad thing was, I STILL got the shutter and jutter here and there throughout the film! I had to know if this would occur with a standalone BR player, so I borrowed my dad’s and hooked it up. I watched some of the most action-intense scenes from the Matrix and no, the stutter and jutter was gone! Great picture, motion, sound, EVERYTHING! A standalone player is DEFINITELY the way to go. I’ll have to get one (maybe as a graduation present) sometime. The current one I’m eyeing is the LG BD370. Besides getting rave reviews, it can also play many different codecs including .MKV, which I already have a few HD movies in! Just plug in a USB drive, and start watching! (From what I’ve read anyway, awesome!)
This TV is one of the best buys I’ve made that I am sure I won’t regret! This TV isn’t top of the line, best thing you can get out there, but if you’re on a budget (like me), then this is probably the best deal you’re going to get! Upconverted DVD’s and especially Blu-rays are the best!
After watching many different forms of programming in both SD and HD, such as cartoons, TV shows and movies (both new and old), all on cable, DVD and BR; the following are the settings (that I adjusted at least half a dozen times) I found to be best all around for viewing any format:
Picture:
* Backlight = 40
* Brightness = 49
* Contrast = 53
* Color = 50
* Tint = 0
* Sharpness = 3
* Advanced Video
o Noise Reduction = Off
o Color Enhancement = Off
o Advanced Adaptive Luma = Low
o Enhanced Contrast Ratio = Off
o Color Temp. = Custom
Red = 125
Green = 128
Blue = 128
o Smooth Motion
Smooth Motion Effect = Middle
Real Cinema Mode = Smooth
Audio:
* Equalizer = Rock
* Balance = 0
* Digital Audio Out = PCM
* Analog Audio Out = Fixed
* Sound Effect = SRS TSXT
* DRC = ½
Setup:
* Wide = Panoramic (=Wide for HDMI inputs)

4 Stars A Great Stocking Stuffer if you’re Gulliver!
I distinctly remember travelling back in time to invent the television set. I remember the fuzzy, hazy black and white signal coming in. I thought to myself “well, give it time. The picture is bound to improve”. And I remembered how Edison’s phonograph progressed through the years. Yes. And I needed a tradmark for the future of t.v. Instead of ‘His Master’s Voice’ I thought that ‘His Master’s Vision’ would be appropriate. Now I’ve changed it to ‘His Master’s Vizio’. Progress marchs on!
I got this t.v. recently and I have to say, for just a few minor complaints, it is excellent! The clarity is remarkable. Crisp, precise, clear. Just as my lectures have been. I suppose it is because it has 1080p technology. And (as of now) this is probably the best out there. It’s got all the hookups you need to enjoy all formats (cable, dvd, vcr (if there’s one left out there!)). I even tried my camcorder through it. I swear, this advanced electronic world is leagues ahead of my initial invention. I really don’t use the remote much because I have the code keyed into my cable box remote. But I’m a firm believer in setting the t.v. to how you like it then LEAVE IT ALONE! Simplicity in action my people.
As I said, the clarity is superb. Now for my little nit picking, (and I hate to pick at nits, if you know what I mean). If you look at the screen straight on, it’s remarkable. In my living room, I have a lot of daylight streaming in, thus, if you look at it from a far angle, you tend to lose the picture. So remember, no undue light in the room!
I remember the first t.v. and how the sound was not up to snuff. I tried hooking it up to a phonograph unit, but it didn’t improve much. Edison was good. But was he “that good” to satisfy the angelic ears of a Seer? Methinks not. Now, I have heard people say what a great sound quality this unit has. Don’t believe them! While it has adequate sound (yeah. Just try to figure out the equalization they include), it is not going to give you that solid, earth binding sound you should get on all broadcasts. You must remember that this t.v. is very thin, so how big are the speakers really in this unit? You got it. Speakers like a 1981 Toyota Celica. Yes I remember. Those speakers were blown after 2 songs by Led Zepplin. Take my word.
But, in this modern age, a go-go society, most people will (wisely) purchase a decent surround sound system to hook up. And I definitely recommend it. Especially if you want the full movie experience. I ask you, who wouldn’t enjoy the thumping of a T Rex from Jurassic Park in your living room? Or, better yet, the thrill of being on the Titanic while it is sinking with water engulfing you from all angels?
I tell you. Drowning was never better than with this t.v. and a good surround system. I tell you, pick up a copy of ‘Jaws’ and you’ll never have to go to the shore again. Unless, of course, you want a tan.
So, this t.v. is excellent for the price. Aside from the few points I mentioned, I would definitely recommend it for all my fans and new fans. I only wish I had continued inventing things. But saving the world is my higher calling.
Give this as a Stocking Stuffer for an imediate family member. Then send them out frequently to run errands and chill back and enjoy it. See how your goodness comes back to you? An essential truth of life brought to you by Metamorpho.
Happy Holidays and Everydays,
Your famous Metamorpho

5 Stars An excellent alternative to Samsungs, Sonys and Panasonics
I just purchased this set at Costco. It’s the 30A version, which has been improved significantly from the 10A version. (these specs come from the manual that I received with the 30A version. The manual on the Vizio site is for the 10A version.)
- Better Display. The 30A uses a new panel which displays 1.07 billion colors. The 10A panel displays 16.77 million.
- Better port access. There are now 2 HDMI, 1 Component, and 1 Composite connections all on the side. Another 2 HDMI, 1 Component, and 1 Composite connections, 1 s-video, 1 RGB around back.
- Improved Contrast Ratio. They bumped up the contrast from 1000:1 (2000:1 DCR) up to 1300:1 (6500:1 DCR).
- More Energy Efficient. It even appears they’ve improved the energy use from 280w avg to 157w avg. (set now featured on the Energy Star site).
- Lighter Weight. The 30A version (59 lbs) tv is even about 18 pounds lighter than the 10A version (77 lbs) (perhaps due to the change in panel).
- Thinner Bezel. The 30A version is now just under 44″ w. The 10A was 44.5″ w.
I’ve have not noticed any off-angle color shifts or dimming unless you’re at the extreme edges. Even the speakers are much better than I expected (although I use a surround system for movies, etc).
I sat there at Costco and tweaked the Vizio until it looked better than the 46″ 120hz Samsung sitting next to it (with the exception of really deep black levels and no 120hz).
Overall, this is just an excellent set. The only things that would make it better in my book would be 120hz, even deeper black level, a swivel stand, volume limiting, and if it cleaned my floors for me.
5 Stars Excellent Value For The Money
I purchased this TV over a year ago, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s picture is sharp, bright and natural. I use it for HDTV over cable, as well as Blu-Ray discs, DVDs, and games on the PS3 and Wii, and all of it looks great. It also has a lot of connectivity options with four HDMI ports. I’m very pleased with this purchase and would definitely consider Vizio in the future.

5 Stars I have had it for a year and a half, still wonderful!
I LOVE my Vizio! I did a lot of shopping in the LCD tv market before I bought this. I wasn’t sure what I would get as Vizio is a newer franchise than SONY or SAMSUNG or TOSHIBA. My father has a SONY 32 inch which is nice and has a good picture. Well, my VIZIO’s pic is just as good, Great HD picture, GOOD standard def, and I think even better than the SONY’s! I am so happy with it. I’ve heard so much negative talk about VIZIO from salespeople etc. But, maybe I got lucky and got a great one, or maybe they just want you to spend 300 extra for a name brand. Who knows. Anyway, five stars for this particular model from me. I will add to this that I am NOT a gamer. I do not know how this model works with video games. Good luck in your search for your dream TV. It’s fun!
5 Stars Had for 2 1/2 years and no problems!
I have had this TV for over 2 years without a problem. It’s not as expensive as others and it is a great TV for us! We have even moved with it once so it has really been solid. I would recommend a Vizio!
