After having this TV for a couple of months we are loving it! We have had good experience with other Samsung sets which is one of the reasons we went with this one and it has not disappointed. Picture is great, extremely light for a 55″ TV and it was our first 1080i TV. I have not played any true 1080i source through it yet but we have been very happy so far. I would recommend this set.

Had this TV for over a year. Still like new. Picture and sound is crystal clear. Color is amazing. I watch sports, play 360 and PS3 games, everything looks so good. I don’t have one complaint. Buy it now!
5 Stars So far, so good. Finally took the plunge for an HD set.
I finally took the plunge for an HD set. At the time that I last set up my home theater – HD had _just_ come on market. Some early CRT-based HD sets were available, but the specification wasn’t quite there, and certainly content availability was very low. The sets were _very_ expensive as well. So I simply opted for a high-end Standard Def. set from Sony.
Things were fine for a long time.
Then the LCD sets came on the market. Vendors wanted more money for what was, to my eyes, an inferior picture. CRT based sets were quickly discontinued – not necessarily because LCD technology was superior (it certainly wasn’t) – but because such sets take much less floor space on a show room floor. The poor color representation, and pixelization, and motion blur of LCD sets turned me off, and Plasma wasn’t much better. I just couldn’t see spending more money for a worse picture, even if the set had physical advantages in terms of space, and power savings.
Well, fast forward to today. After looking over several Samsung models – I ended up purchasing this set. It’s by no means the current “best available” at this point – but considering the price and quality it’s quite good. The black levels on this set are amazing (none of that dark gray = black). The color representation is excellent. And, so far, judder and motion blur seem acceptably low.
Hi-definition sportscasts look amazing. NHL and NBA (currently in-season) look fantastic – the gleam of the ice or the court, or the reflections off the glass barriers is really something to see.
The X-Box 360 looks fantastic in 1080p – and video games don’t seem to have any real lag between the control and updates of on-screen action.
The 3:2 pulldown, movie mode (24 fps) looks quite alright so far. Several DVDs (don’t have the Blu-Ray yet) look almost Hi-Def when up-sampled (several guests have been amazed that it wasn’t actually a Hi-Def source).
All in all, pleasantly happy with this set, and looking forward to several years of viewing pleasure.

5 Stars THEY ARE REALLY CORRECT !!!!
I have been “watching” the Samsung LN55A950 for a long time now and decided to “pounce” now that it is being discontinued. Will not repeat all the very helpful comments across many websites that state this is one of the best TVs out there. But be careful as those made before September 20, 2008 have a prior firmware version as well as older hardware (longer story — see AV forum) and I wasted a lot of time (with Samsung) trying to decipher the Serial Number on the box being held for me. (Turned out that mine was February 2009, so I’m in good shape) It is totally wonderful to watch and now quite well priced IF you can find it. The 55 inch is the most difficult to find but PC Richards in New York, New Jersey still have a few left. So go get one, you will not be sorry!

First of all, I have been a Sony buyer for many, many years. When my 15 month old 52 inch Sony went out; I asked a repairman which TV brand he would recommend. He told me Samsung. I have had this set for only a few days; but we are in total shock. Absolutely beautiful. The colors are amazing. Hands down, one of the finest sets out there even today in my opinion.

3 Stars Good picture — Bad service
Samsung’s e-mail support is a joke. I sent 2 separate e-mails and waited weeks for a reply. The reader apparently did not speak English since the answers did not fit the questions.
I am getting scared since the picture is starting to freeze-up occasionally and the warranty is running out; and their service is notoriously bad.
I consider the controls clumsy and confusing and not as good as my 11 year old Hitachi.
The picture quality is very good on most DVD’s and Satellite HD broadcasts. It has plenty of inputs/outputs. One annoying thing is that there is a delay between the audio output to a receiver and the picture, meaning that the sound and picture are out-of-sync, although it is almost unnoticeable. If you use only the TV’s speakers there is no problem.
This is my last Samsung product.
5 Stars I looked and looked… and now i have Found!
I spent 2 years holding back until i found a TV worth the money… and it is this TV.
NOTHING compares to the picture quality of Local Dimming and Scanning LED BACKlit LCD displays. No Sidelit, or CCFL can match the quality… and personally I think this model beats the XBR8 and the New LGx. Toshiba and Vizio are playing Catchup right now, but i doubt they will reach the pinnacle that Samsung has with this 55A950.
Get this at the great price while you still can…
(Do not buy if you want a “thin” or “slim bezel” TV, only get it if you want the best PICTURE and MOVIE quality on the SCREEN itself. If you like Plasma thats fine too, this is not an LCD vs Plasma review.)

I did A LOT of research before I committed to the Samsung and I can’t describe how happy I am. The picture is amazing…it’s the best of a plasma and LCD put together. 6ave was very efficient…had the TV within 3 days. The delivery service they used was very helpful in trying to work around my busy schedule. They did require someone to sign for the TV after we opened the box and inspected it. I highly recommend this product!!!!
5 Stars It can’t get any better. An extraordinary TV
I already have a 52″Sony Bravia which is absolutely an excellent Television. I read and heard a lot of good reviews about Samsung so I decided to try it out for the second TV that I was planning to get exclusively for myself. Although in the beginning, my plan was to get another Sony. Since I own one I knew for a fact that Sony was great. I still wanted to check out the other similar grade TV’s in the market before I made my final selection. When I went to the show room and saw the SAMSUNG it was love at first sight. Samsung stood out in it’s contemporary sleek-elegant design and the superior picture quality. The super bright vibrant picture side by side compared to all other TV’s in the store was simply outstanding. My mind became set on it. I still dealt with my urge and decided not to get the TV right away, but do some research like I do with all my electronics. Over all I could not take a risk on such a pricey item without being absolutely sure. Since this product was fairly new to the market I did not find very many reviews about it in the net. Whatever review were out, they were all good ones speaking very highly about the product – even the reviews from the critics were excellent. I managed to get the manual ahead of time and went through it- every detail comparing it with my other TV and TV’s of my friends and relatives. The comparisons were very impressive. This TV seemed to offer a lot more than all other TV, s of the same category. For example to be able upgrade the features of the TV via USB, the 500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, due to LED Smart-Lighting technology etc. Now much convinced with the knowledge and not solely by the infatuation, I went to Best Buy and got my highly anticipated toy home. I couldn’t wait to be able to experience the TV first hand.
Picture quality: Extremely high picture quality. The details are extraordinary. The warm color and the super bright picture really stand out. I was truly skeptical about paying the extra money for the LED feature. But it seriously makes a difference. It automatically adjusts the brightness of the image on a frame by frame basis, ensuring deep black levels and allowing subtle details to be seen. When you compare it with your other TV you can really feel the difference. Game mode enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up the image processing response and enhances the sound. It’s been a remarkable gaming experience for me with this TV. In fact my Sony PS3 is hooked up to the Samsung now instead of the Sony. The remote is very easy to use, and the set up is very quick and easy. It’s been more than two months and I have not returned to my SONY. So I have to say SONY is a great TV, but this Samsung is simply Amazing. If it’s in your budget don’t think twice JUST GET IT. If it’s not…it’s still worth spending a little extra for it.”

It has a half a million to one contract ratio (5000,000:1).
The TV has a VERY VERY Black color !
It dose 1080p and had a beautiful picture !!

5 Stars Great 1080 P T.V.
I couldn’t be happier with the purchase of this LCD. I always heard negatives about the LCD technology when it came to “true blacks”. Samsung acknowledged this issue with their LED technology. the 500,000:1 contrast ratio provides for a great picture. The Full 1080P looks amazing with my PS3(Blue Ray player). Unfortunately, I am unable to utilize the 1080P while watching T.V. because of the cable companies limitations (hopefully Verizon Fios will be available in my area soon). Regardless, the picture looks great no matter what signal is coming into the converter box. The T.V. is also great looking which compliments the rooms asthetics. Overall I couldn’t be happier; some say the only draw back is that the T.V. isn’t 120 HZ (the LED motion technology makes up for that though with 8ms response time). Honestly, my friend has a 120 HZ Samsung and I can’t tell the difference. Both look great.
