the quality of this tv is amazing everyone i know that owns an HDTV says that this one is so much better, the difference between 60 & 120Hz is crazy, even watching a 700 mb 90 min AVI movie on this tv still looks awesome which i thought it would be horrible quality on such a big tv. Anyways you might find other TVs for cheaper with the same specs, but take it from someone who used to fix TVs for LG their customer service is so much better than any other company i have seen that on the rare instance something goes wrong they will take good care of you.

This is the first HDTV I’ve ever purchased and I feel good about it. It’s a beautiful picture, right out of the box. It took me about 10 minutes to unpack, another 5 to connect, and another 5 to configure. Out of the box, I have zero complaints about the picture settings. So far, the only thing in the image I dislike is the halo around candles/bulbs in a really dark setting. Other than that, this is a fantastic t.v.! You can view the image from any angle and the tru-motion/local dimming features make for a significantly sharp/contrasted image. Once in a while, you get a guy that has been working on t.v.s his whole life and starts bashing every little non-perfect thing about a t.v., but if you work, eat food, and watch t.v., this LG is for you! I am not an expert in electronics so I will keep this short and sweet. This tv was just the right size for my needs, has an excellent picture (as far as my eyes are concerned) and the price was right!! I am pleased with the purchase.

We ordered the TV via Amazon and even though shipping would have been free, I paid a little extra to have it delivered in 3 days because I feared the longer it stayed in the shipping process, the better the chances of it being damaged.
Anyway, we are very happy with the TV. The distance from which you watch it is important. The best picture is from a distance of about 15′ away. Any closer, and the picture isn’t as great. But it’s hard to go back to regular TV once you’ve watched it in HD. I’m hopelessly spoiled!
The set up was EASY! I read reviews about how difficult it was to set it up, and that’s bogus. It was very easy. Given, I am electronically inclined, but I think my husband could have set it up easily and he’s a doof. Haha!
The sound is great too, especially for built in speakers.
I was scared to buy something this pricey online, because if something goes wrong, you’re kind of screwed. But the entire process from purchase to delivery was perfect. I do recommend reading up on sellers though, before you decide to go for it. Read other customer reviews on the seller!!! I changed my mind on a seller last minute and paid a little more for the TV just because I had a bad feeling.

I’m no kind of TV expert but I can say so far my tv has been great. The picture is awesome, the size is perfect for my room (I have it set up about 2 feet from my bed although i can imagine being able to watch it from across my room too; my room being about 200 square feet)Of course I can’t speak to specific features but I don’t think I could tell between a 720 and 1060; the picture is extremely clear. And it doesn’t take forever to switch between channels. I’ve read before that the sound leaves something to be desired but honestly, I am very satisfied with it.
The only thing it doesn’t have for this size is a swivel stand which gets kind of annoying sometimes since I always want it either pointed at my bed or my room when i’m doing something.
Otherwise great purchase and totally worth it in my opinion.

4 Stars Nice TV for the price paid
I’ve been using this TV for almost 2 months now and so far it has been great for the most part, the picture quality, the features, and many others. I connected my blue ray player to one of the HDMI inputs and played the blue ray disc (Planet Earth) and all I can say was WOW! The only complaint I have with this TV would be that there was no traditional RCA analog output connectors, and for such a large 55″ TV the sound from the built-in speakers was quite weak even at max setting. This mean connecting an amplified HT receiver a must if you want decent sound from the material that you are watching. But overall I’m quite happy with the purchase considering the price I paid (around $1,500 no TAX and free shipping) and what I got in return.

5 Stars Very satisfied with this TV
I bought online, but only after looking at a LOT of TVs in stores. For me, the major selling point for this LG was that the screen is very bright and still has good contrast, making a very nice picture — I didn’t see anything better for anywhere near this price. The PC and USB inputs are very useful bonuses, which are missing from some of the cheaper 52″ sets. I don’t have external speakers yet, but the built-in speakers sound pretty decent so I’m not in a hurry to do that now. I’m using it with DirecTV HD, and the picture is beautiful, so I’m very satisfied with this TV.

3 Stars Great picture – not that great sound
This is the first HD tv I have ever purchased, but I have lived with roommates for over 4 years that have owned HD tvs the entire time.
I am very satisfied with the picture on this TV (for the price). The blacks looks very deep, and TimeWarner cable looks awesome, as do xbox 360 games and BluRay discs.
My only gripe is the sound. Sometimes I have to turn it up near the maximum volume of 100 to hear things properly, and the speakers have a very noticeable rattle to them, even when they are not cranked all the way up.
I got a killer deal on this TV around Christmas time, and I’m planning to hook up surround sound to eliminate the quiet/rattling speakers problem, so overall I’m very satisfied.

5 Stars Great Delivery; Almost Great TV
The TV is as advertised. Great picture…good blacks, good color, good uniformity. Great features…120Hz, 24p “real cinema”, fast response time (LG claims < 4mS), good contrast, great veiwing angle, automatic backlight and picture adjustment with ambient light sensor, multiple video modes, lots of inputs/outputs, etc., etc.
I have been very happy with this and other LG products so far. The only reason for the “almost” is that on-screen feature menus are a little cumbersome, I have not figured out how to get full function out of the remote for my other key components (Receiver and cable/DVR) and the detailed manual came on a DVD vs paper. I prefer paper.
Amazon’s free delivery and setup/install service on this product (all large TVs?) is outstanding. Reason enough to choose Amazon over many other retailers and certainly over most mail-order retailers. I got a very good price for the time I bought, but prices are falling so fast I won’t share it…it will probably sound high now.
Overall, a great choice for this size TV with comparable features…but do your research…there are a lot of very nice TVs available and LG has already released its newer, “LH” series of TVs.
4 Stars Great bang for the buck
I’ve had this TV for a little over 6 months and really enjoy it. The picture quality is fantastic in HD and the colors really pop. The black levels could be better and if you have this tv on a shorter stand, the colors tend to wash out when your vantage point is looking down on the tv (standing up). The TV really needs to be at eye level or above to avoid the washing out. Also, you NEED to calibrate this TV. I had it for two months before I found calibration settings online, and WOW what a difference it made. You will get so much more out of this TV if you have it calibrated correctly. I like the matted screen because it reduces glare to almost nonexistent; however you lose a little clarity in dark scenes compared to other LCD’s. I previously owned a Samsung 750 and returned it because it had so much glare…but the darks scenes were very clear. I prefer not having the glare with my LG; it’s a tradeoff. All in all, i reccomend this TV because the picture quality rivals that of other higher end LCD’s, but the price doesn’t. Of course there are some drawbacks, but if you are willing accept those drawbacks, you’ll save some money and still get a high quality TV.

5 Stars Beautiful TV as well as picture with sleek 1.8in design.
I searched high and low for a 40 to 42in TV and this was the best deal on the market. I was being told by salesmen (and reviews) that Samsungs had the best picture and I found them to look pretty good as well. But for the price range I was in ($1000) I was not finding the specs I wanted. (120Hz, 42in, 1080p, auto light adjust, swivel base) As a matter of fact, it was very hard to find a reputable TV maker with a 120Hz 42 in that price point. Then I stumbled across the 42LGX. I thought the TV was stunning looking with the scarlet red on the back, the chrome colored base and the clear, see-through power circle. It had all those specs and the picture was absolutely stunning! I looked at it side by side next to a comparable Samsung and the pictures were very similar. When comparing to the Samsung models in the same price, the picture was better. Samsung would only offer a 60Hz TV at that price point with a 40in screen. It just looked way smaller. The LG was a no brainer. The only thing that made the decision difficult was the 42LG70. It had the exact same specs, but it wasn’t 1.8in thick. It was on clearance as a display model for $850 and the LGX was brand new for $999. The Samsung closest in price and features was about $1300. I ended up buying at Fryes Electronics with a 5 year warranty and I’m very happy with the deal.
I use the TV with my computer (I disconnected my cable TV) to watch movies and TV shows over the internet and it works great. I use Windows Media Center and I have no problem getting full and wide screen shows in high def. I also use a video capture card that gives me all the features of a HD DVR. I get HD over the air and it looks way better than cable or satellite on this TV. The TV works very well as a second monitor with the DVI connection. You cannot tell if you’re watching TV piped from the computer or directly on the TV – it looks that good. Also, when people see it, they can’t believe I don’t have cable.
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone. Easy to set up – I didn’t even make any changes to the color settings at all. Right out the box, it looked great. And the menus and just so simple. It’s fairly light, connections are easy to make, it’s just a great looking TV. If you can find it on sale, buy it! You won’t be sorry.

The best looking picture I have ever seen. TV adjusts to different light as you turn them on and off. Very clear and crisp picture. Sound is amazing don’t even need surround sound.

4 Stars Excellent LCDTV. Bad for Play Station 3
I’ve had this tv for a couple of months and had no complaints until i connected my PS3 via HDMI, for some reason it has a lot of problems running 1080p resolution under HDMI since it cuts the image with a message saying “invalid format” while you are playing or navigating thru the menu screen. DON’T BUY THIS TV FOR A PS3, lots of issues.
5 Stars Amazing Full HD
This is a great television. It’s got all the advanced options for people, like myself, that enjoy tweaking settings on their gadgets. The matte finish is perfect for rooms with a lot of ambient light, both natural or artificial. The color of the television is extremely impressive, especially after it’s been calibrated.
As with most LCDs the blacks are a little lacking, but the contrast is pretty good overall. The matte finish is really nice at preventing glare and reflections. Images and color are pretty uniform across the screen and off center viewing is very impressive, compared to some older LCDs. My screen has some issues with blotchy, slightly darker areas, on the left side, but it’s very subtle and only shows up in very specific instances. My wife doesn’t see it at all and I can’t seem to “unsee” it, but it’s a very minor issue.
There are a ton of connection options (multiple HDMI, component, RGB, DVI, etc), which make this TV pretty future proof and allow users with older video equipment to upgrade their TV without having to replace their other gear.
My favorite thing about the LG50 is that it can be calibrated to professional standards using the built in user menus. All one needs is a colorimeter, a calibration DVD, and some calibration software and you can make professional level adjustments to the color settings. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re into geeky stuff like that, you’ll appreciate the option to do so. If you’re not into that kind of advanced adjustment, there’s still a lot of other more simple adjustments that can be made to help improve the picture quality, as well as presets.
On top of all that, you’re getting full 1080p, high definition resolution.

Great picture. We love our Samsung 50″ plasma, but there is still a conversion problem with FIOS, which makes us lose connection, so we looked at other brands. LG is a great value for the money. The picture is comparable to the Samsung. The sound got a bad rap in many reviews I read, but I think it’s just fine. We just listed through the internal speakers. Also considered the 42LG70 model. Almost exactly the same except the 70 is more $. One internet site referred to the 60 as an upgrade over the 70 so that made up our minds. I found later that the 70 has an extra audio output that I might have used. Set up was easy right out of the box except for the stand. If you’re not going to mount it on the wall, the stand is a little tricky to assemble. Overall I would make the same purchase again.

I bought it through amazon. Really a very good price compared to SONY and Samsung. The Picture quality is great and HD is full and involving.
Also free voltage (100-240v) and rotating screen. Sounds like a trivial function, but a rotating screen is an important function if you would like to view the screen from various points in your house. And you have a hard time fiding a rotating table for this kind of TV. Overall, a very nice product with a very nice price.

3 Stars Compact size, controls on top, but lip synch problems
Good picture, compact size (the frame is narrow so takes less space), has PC input that works fine, menus pretty nicely done, but has serious lip synching problems, doesn’t fit picture to screen all that well (and yes it is 16:10 so images are slightly tall). Sound has weak frequency range and does sound tinny, however I used headphone jack to feed stereo audio output to my receiver and that feed sounds fine. As I write this, I’m thinking there has to be better model out there…sharp and Toshiba 22 inch displays were not yet available when I purchased this one, only other option was a Vizio, which I tried, but dark backgrounds had lots of noise.
4 Stars Very Good Starter TV and for Small Spaces
Overall, this TV is excellent for what I want of it. I’m not sure what others had in mind when they purchase it, but for my needs, this TV is absolutely perfect doing double-duty as my computer monitor and small bedroom television. It’s actually 22″, widescreen, and high-definition, with brilliant color, nice design, compact size, hidden speakers (which, somewhat reduces audio quality, but adds to visual appeal), and at least one hook-up for any kind of device you need. As a monitor, it takes my computer to a whole new level, and as a HD television for my Xbox (using a VGA cable), the images are overwhelming at times. For the price, this TV is an excellent purchase, and a great compact television.
However, the one I bought had a single burned out pixel (which I was too lazy to take back and replace with another TV; not that noticeable unless you’re watching something that’s really dark and are sitting a foot away from the screen); plus, the TV has no tilt or turn ability. Instead, it just comes with a simple, small, rigid stand that locks into the bottom of the TV (however, once again, for my purposes, this really doesn’t impact me too much). Also, audio quality is not great when using the TV’s speakers, but since I mostly use the TV as a monitor, that once again is not a big deal. The only other thing I’m not thrilled about is the widescreen images seem to not be exactly widescreen; they seem a little short actually, causing circles to appear more as vertically stretched ovals, even when the TV and appropriate devices have been set to display in widescreen. However, the distortion is very slight, and only noticeable if you pay attention.
Overall, for the price, this is a great desktop or small bedroom TV. At 22″, being high-definition, a television, and sylish, with all hook-ups on the back, this will be more than worth the value as a computer monitor and TV, especially for those on a budget.

I guess that’s the name behind LG…..not very asian….although made by the upstart Koreans… assembled in China like everything else. Easy to set up out of the box…no surprises. Comes with a CD that explains the details of editing the TV….but, I was able to figure out most of the basics from the on screen prompts and the remote. Well designed HDTV with a good sound system and swivel base. Good value, and I did not see significant peripheral problems. The base actually has a shoulder to it, and is not flat as depicted. I was not ready for the 80 some stations I got on an antenna….compared to a dozen on my old CRT. Why pay for cable?

As a recent retiree travel trailering across the US, I bought this tv in Chattanooga at HH Gregg on Black Friday, as an in-store, unadvertised, NIB special for $399! It has an amazingly clear picture, and the colors are brilliant. The blacks are BLACK. I have only used it thus far to receive both analog and digital, including HD, over-the-air signals with rabbit ears and find it to be very satisfactory. The sound leaves a bit to be desired, but with such small in-set speakers that is to be expected. When I connect my small Altec Lansing computer speakers with separate subwoofer, the sound is awesome. All in all, a great product, especially at the price………….
